8 BEST WAYS TO MOTIVATE OURSELVES AND GET GOING…

A person thinking of what to do to stay motivated

Self-motivation is a trait which is not very common in people throughout the world. It is quite understandable that we are neither always prepared to suffer a lot of pressure nor have enough exposure to struggle through the unanticipated obstacles. Some rise with more strength than expected, while others get suppressed under the unbearable burden in such situations.

Undoubtedly, anyone would expect/require support and motivation in tough circumstances, but it is not always available to all, thus arising the need for self-motivation. It is easy to say or listen, but extremely difficult to implement. I urge everyone to find motivation from every minute thing around us.

Here are 8 topmost techniques to follow in order to encourage ourselves in our lives:

1. GET STARTED WITH SMALL, LET THE MOTIVATION CATCH-UP, TRANSFORM SMALL INTO BIG

The biggest hindrance on the way to success in any task is its beginning. It is really difficult to plan and decide where exactly shall we start from, and this reluctance leads to more confusions as time passes. Therefore, it is better to reduce this confusion, and start with something (something is better than nothing). Once we begin, motivation catches up as we proceed, and ideas to transform our task into a more successful one emerge themselves thus generating immense positivity and encouragement within ourselves.

2. FOCUS ON THE GOALS AND AVOID DISTRACTIONS

It is not an easy task to maintain our concentration and control our mind from deviating. Such distractions shake our confidence and motivation in everyday life. It is of dire importance to be careful about our focus, doesn’t matter what we need to do to avoid the distractions around us. Distractions can vary from small to large, from simply a ringtone of mobile phone to friends asking for a road-trip. We must prioritize our goals over such distractive elements.

3. DON’T FEEL SHY IN TAKING ADVICE FROM OTHERS

“A little knowledge is a dangerous thing” and “Excess of everything is bad”. Both the sayings are true to the core. We shall be open to ask others about their suggestions out of their experiences in their fields of expertise. We should not feel low in taking guidance and gaining knowledge. Anything that suits our workflow must be integrated in the right manner, and anything that exceeds our requirements must be kept aside to avoid irrelevant comparisons or deviations. Gaining the right amount of knowledge adds to our motivation and also relieves stress from our mind.

4. SPEND TIME WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE

Now this is something that I love to do and has unbelievable outcomes. We are all surrounded by a variety of people, some are extremely optimistic while others are completely opposite. Talking to positive people, meeting them, spending quality time with them, may be a few minutes or perhaps a day or two, watching them smile, listening to their positive thoughts, it all yields immeasurable positivity and motivation within us. I am blessed to have a large number of positive people in my life who always talk or meet whenever possible. We must all try to keep in touch with each other, and be very positive about it, appreciate others approaching us for interacting or meeting, and never doubt their intentions as long as positivity is crystal clear.

5. LEARN FROM OWN AND OTHERS’ EXPERIENCES

We must keep ourselves open to learn from our own experiences in the past or from experiences of others around us. Ignoring our failure might make us comfortable for some time, but repeating the same mistakes can repeat the same failure as well, thus leading to a long-term disappointment. Therefore, we must make note of the previous happenings, observe how others deal with situations in their lives, learn from all sorts of scenarios occurring in the world, and implement the learning while executing our plans, in order to increase the probability of success, thus raising the level of self-motivation.

6. FEEL SATISFIED WITH YOUR EFFORTS

We often end up in a dilemma whether we are working in the right direction or not, specially when the results of our efforts are not as we wanted them to be. This can demotivate us from continuing the efforts, and we may end up quitting on our tasks as well. Therefore, it is imperative to be confident and content with our work instead of questioning or doubting our own abilities. This satisfaction generates motivation and assists in maintaining a positive line of thought.

7. TAKE CARE OF HEALTH

There are some days when we wake up and feel low, and such a start to the day ruins all the plans. On the contrary, there are mornings when we wake up and feel like winning over the world with our potential, and such days bring the best results. Its all about being healthy and energetic always. Eating right, exercising for some time either every day or at least on alternate days, having ample sleep, meditating, etc help to maintain sound health and we all know that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. So, we must take the best care of our health to stay motivated and full of enthusiasm.

8. BE THANKFUL TO GOD

Last but not least, we can never thank the Almighty enough for all the blessings showered upon us. It cannot be denied that there are a lot of problems that we face in life and undergo immense sufferings at times as well, but that is all a part of everyone’s life which cannot be avoided but must be survived and won over. Life is a blessing in itself; to work over it and make it better is what we are supposed to do. Accepting life as given by God, and thanking Him for the same, makes us immune to the negativity around and motivates us to work harder on both short-term and long-term goals.

ALL IN ALL, there is no specific rule or medicine which can help in growing motivational thoughts in our minds. It totally depends on ourselves, to learn from our own lives, how to tackle the negative vibes and motivate ourselves to work harder than before with as much positivity as possible. My experiences have taught me to remain calm, patient and positive in the toughest of the situations, and above are the aspects which I have followed in the last couple of years and have helped me in more ways than I can recall.

Eventually, what we think doesn't matter as much as what we do. Period. So, let’s all adapt better to the prevailing and upcoming conditions, let's give our best shot to life and remain motivated for a better tomorrow always.
